What does a Teen need to do in order to get a Texas Driver’s License?
First
•You must attend a 32-hour classroom course.
• You must be at least 15 years of age, or be turning 15 within the same month of the class that your are attending.
Second
•You must attend the first three days of class consecutively and have your class balance paid in full to obtain certification for an instructional permit.
•Concurrent with classroom time, the student should begin practicing driving with a licensed parent or guardian so that they will be ready for our in-car instruction once the classroom hours are completed. The student is required to log 30 hours of practice with a parent. This log will be provided by your driving school, and does not need to be completed until you're ready to take your road exam.

•Once the 32-hour classroom course is completed, and you have obtained your learner's permit from the DPS, you may begin scheduling appointments to drive with our instructors.
Fourth
•Once you have completed the 14 hours (7/7) of driving instruction with our teachers, you will obtain certification for a drivers license.
•After obtaining this certification, there are a few things you must check first before scheduling a road exam.
•You must be at least 16 years old, have held your learner's permit for at least 6 months if under the age of 18, and completed a driver's education course.

Last
•Before scheduling your driving exam, you have one last thing to do.
•You must visit https://impacttexasdrivers.dps.texas.gov/ and watch a 2-hour informational video. This short course will also give you a certification that will be needed at the time of your scheduled road exam.
