So you’ve finished your Driver’s Education course, what comes next?
Scheduling a Driving Test With Texas Driving School
If you are 16 to 17 years of age you must:
Possess a valid DE-964 Certificate showing you have completed a Teen Driver Education Course. (32 Hours Classroom, 14 Hours in Car with the driving school)
Have a valid Learner License, and have held that Learner’s License (Learner’s Permit) for a minimum of six months.
Complete the 30 Hour, Behind the Wheel Parent Driving Log
Complete the Impact Texas Teens Drivers (ITTD) video, and print the certificate of completion. The certificate of completion must be dated within 90 days prior to taking the driving test.
If you are 18 to 24 years of age you must:
Possess a valid DE-964 or ADE-1317 Certificate showing you have completed either a Teen or Adult Driver Education Course.
Have a valid Learner License. (There is no probation period for Permits issued for 18 and older)
Complete the Impact Texas Adult Drivers (ITAD) video, and print the certificate of completion. The certificate of completion must be dated within 90 days prior to taking the driving test.
If you are 25 years of age and older you must:
Pass the Road Rules and Road Signs written examinations with a local Department of Public Safety (DPS) office.
Have a valid Learner’s License. (Only required if Testing with Texas Driving School)
Complete the Impact Texas Adult Drivers (ITAD) video, and print the certificate of completion. The certificate of completion must be dated within 90 days prior to taking the driving test.
If you are 25 or older, and are applying for a Texas Driver’s License, you are not required to complete a driver education course; however, it is recommended if applying for a Texas Driver’s License for the first time.
Please note that you MUST bring in all of the testing requirements to our office before scheduling a driving test appointment! We do not schedule driving tests over the phone unless the paperwork has already been received.
